Last night, Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce planned a trip aboard the training ships, Jack Petchey and Royalist, in Weymouth Harbour. A little further along the Harbourside, but unfortunately away from public areas where a better photograph may have been obtainable, was the Tall Ship Stavros S Niarchos. Just to finish off the stroll around the Pleasure Pier Peninsula, there is snap of the Jurassic Skyline Tower from near the entrance.
The Stavros S Niarchos is a 60m British Brig, purposely designed for adventure sailing, built in 2000 and operated by Northern Marine Management Ltd (Stena Group) for the Tall Ships Youth Trust. Estimated to be worth around £20million (replacement), she has been placed on sale recently via Berthon.
The Jurassic Skyline Tower (formerly the Sea Life Tower) has been operating since 2011 and reaches 154 feet into the sky, affording tremendous views around Weymouth Bay and across the Guesthouse rooftops into Weymouth Harbour. The tower is currently closed while undergoing maintenance and repair works.
The Harbour, Beach, Pleasure Pier, Jurassic Skyline Tower and the whole Pavilion Theatre Peninsula is just a short stroll from Aaran Guesthouse and is a great way to spend time taking in the magnificent sea views and surrounding scenery.
